Information for Presenters

Information for regular talks

Spoken presentations are in the Century Ballroom (map). Each talk has a 30 minute time-slot (except invited talks, which are 45 minutes). This time includes question-and-answer time and transitions between talks, as well as the talk itself. Please plan your presentation accordingly, aiming for your talk to be 20 minutes long, with eight or nine minutes for Q&A. You can either use your own laptop, or copy your presentation onto the PC at the tech table. If you bring your laptop, please also bring your own VGA adapter. There will be a remote to advance the slides as well as a monitor displaying the slides to the speaker. Please use the break before your session to test the set-up.

Information for flash talks

Spoken presentations are in the Century Ballroom (map). This year’s CUNY contains a flash talk session consisting of four short talks. This session is intended as a platform for (starting) students to highlight their research.  Each talk has a 15 minute time-slot. Please plan on a 13-minute presentation, allowing for transitions between talks. Q&A will be at the end of the 4-talk session. You can either use your own laptop, or copy your presentation onto the PC at the tech table. If you bring your laptop, please also bring your own VGA adapter. There will be a remote to advance the slides as well as a displaying the slides to the speaker. Please use the break before your session to test the set-up.

Information for posters

Poster boards will be set up in the pre-function space and rooms adjacent to the Century ballroom (map). Poster can be a maximum of 5’6” (~170 cm) horizontally and a maximum of 4’6” (140 cm) vertically. Presenters will be provided one side of one freestanding poster board with thumbtacks. Posters can be oriented in landscape or portrait format. Posters will be left up all day but presenters are expected to be by their posters on the day of their session from 1:15 pm to 2:15 pm (odd numbered posters) and from 2:15 pm to 3:15 pm (even numbered posters). Posters will need to be removed at the end of the last session each day.
